SMS Messaging Policy
How CrewCall uses text messaging, and how you control it.
Who we are
CrewCall is a scheduling platform used by live-event production companies to staff their events and communicate with their crew. SMS messages from CrewCall come from the phone number registered with our messaging provider (Twilio).
What messages we send
When you opt in to SMS, CrewCall may send you:
- Shift offers — invitations to work a specific event on a specific date.
- Assignment updates — changes to a shift you're assigned to (time, venue, position).
- Event reminders — reminders ahead of a confirmed shift.
- Urgent operational notices — call-time changes, weather cancellations, and similar day-of information.
We do not send marketing or promotional SMS.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies based on your work schedule and the events your organization is staffing. A typical active worker receives between 2 and 20 messages per month. Workers who are currently not being scheduled may go weeks without receiving any.
How you opt in
SMS messages are only sent to users who have given explicit, affirmative consent. Consent can be granted in either of the following places inside the CrewCall application:
- Worker onboarding — when accepting an invitation to join an organization on CrewCall, workers can check an SMS consent box on the profile step.
-
Notification preferences — any user can visit
/communications/preferences/while logged in and enable SMS by checking the consent box.
The consent checkbox is never pre-checked. The exact disclosure text displayed at the moment of consent is:
By checking this box, I agree to receive SMS messages from CrewCall related to event scheduling, shift offers, and shift reminders at the phone number I provide. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Each opt-in event is recorded with the timestamp, IP address, user agent, and a verbatim copy of the disclosure text. These records are retained for audit purposes and are available on request.
Before the consent checkbox is accepted, the phone number on file must be verified using a one-time code sent via Twilio Verify. This ensures every opt-in corresponds to a number the user demonstrably controls.
How you opt out
You can stop receiving SMS messages from CrewCall at any time by either:
- Replying STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) to any message we send. Your number will be immediately opted out.
- Disabling SMS notifications on the Notification preferences page inside your CrewCall account.
After opting out, you can opt back in by replying START or by re-enabling SMS in your notification preferences.
Help
Reply HELP to any SMS we send for assistance, or email support@crew-call.net.
Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply. Rates depend on your wireless carrier and plan. CrewCall does not charge a separate fee for SMS messages.
Privacy
Your phone number and the content of messages we send you are covered by our Privacy Policy. Mobile information, including phone numbers and opt-in records, is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our SMS program evolves. Material changes will be posted here, and the disclosure text shown at the time of each opt-in is retained verbatim so you can see exactly what you agreed to on a given date.
