Messaging workers

Updated April 21, 2026

Sometimes you need to reach a single worker directly — to answer a question, clarify a call time, or give day-of instructions.

From the worker's profile

On the worker detail page, click Message. Pick the channel(s):

  • Email — always available.
  • SMS — only if the worker has verified their phone and opted in. If they haven't, the SMS option is disabled with an explanation.

Type your subject and body, click Send. The message also appears in the worker's in-app notifications.

Bulk messaging

Need to reach multiple workers? Use Workers → Bulk Message. Filter by status, skill, favorites, or attendance at a specific event; the preview shows the current recipient count as you adjust filters. A single message fan-outs through the same channels.

What the worker sees

An email lands in their inbox from Crew-Call. An SMS comes from your Twilio number. In-app notifications land in the bell icon at the top-right.

Etiquette

  • Messages you send are one-way — the worker can reply by calling/texting directly, but they can't reply inside CrewCall.
  • Day-of shift changes are better sent as an event update so the change is reflected on the assignment detail page too.
